Pharmacological combination of nivolumab with dendritic cell vaccines in cancer immunotherapy: An overview

نویسندگان

چکیده

In the last decade, immunotherapy led to a paradigm shift in treatment of numerous malignancies. Alongside with monoclonal antibodies blocking programmed cell death receptor-1 (PD-1)/PD-L1 and cytotoxic T- lymphocyte antigen 4 (CTLA-4) immune checkpoints, cell-based approaches such as CAR-T cells dendritic (DC) vaccines have strongly contributed pushing forward this thrilling field. While initial strategies were mainly focused on monotherapeutic regimens, it is now consensual that combination immunotherapies tackling multiple cancer hallmarks can result superior clinical outcomes. Here, we review depth pharmacological DC-based boost tumour elimination by eliciting expanding effector cells, PD-1 inhibitor Nivolumab allows key escape mechanisms. This represents an important step therapy, significant enhancement patient survival several types tumours, paving way establishing combinatorial immunotherapeutic first-line treatments.

Dendritic Cell Immunotherapy, the Next Step in Cancer Treatment

Cancer immunotherapy has gained a lot of interest over the past few years due to the success of immune checkpoint inhibitors in treating cancer (1, 2). Immune checkpoint inhibitors, such as monoclonal antibodies against cytotoxic T-lymphocyte–associated antigen 4 (CTLA-4) and programmed death 1 (PD-1), have been shown to increase survival of patients with advanced cancers (1, 2). These in...

Dendritic cells in cancer immunotherapy: vaccines and combination immunotherapies.

Dendritic cells (DCs) are specialized immunostimulatory cells involved in the induction and regulation of immune responses. The feasibility of large-scale ex vivo generation of DCs from patients' monocytes allows for therapeutic application of ex vivo-cultured DCs to bypass the dysfunction of endogenous DCs, restore immune surveillance, induce cancer regression or stabilization or delay or prev...

Distinct features of dendritic cell-based immunotherapy as cancer vaccines

Dendritic cells (DCs) are the most professional antigen presenting cells that play important roles in connection between innate and adaptive immune responses. Numerous studies revealed that the functions of DCs are related with the capture and processing of antigen as well as the migration to lymphoid tissues for the presenting antigens to T cells. These unique features of DCs allow them to be ...

Dendritic Cell Maturation with CpG for Tumor Immunotherapy

Background: Bacterial DNA has immunostimulatory effects on different types of immune cells such as dendritic cells (DCs). Application of DCs as a cellular adjuvant represents a promising approach in the immunotherapy of infectious disease and cancers. Objectives: To investigate the effect of tumor antigen pulsed DCs in the presence of CpG-1826 in treatment of a murine model of cancer. Methods: ...
